What's at stake
For the past year, UMass Memorial has been engaged in a conversation with the community - our neighbors, patients, doctors, nurses, staff, and other critical partners -- about the importance of delivering the highest quality healthcare more affordably. We have outlined the "Case for Change" through letters to the community, meetings with legislators and business leaders, and updates and forums for employees. And we have discussed what change means: expense reductions and streamlined operations for efficiency, effectiveness, and improved physician, staff, and patient experience -- while still providing world class care.
We have been gratified by the support we have received. We have worked collaboratively with both our union and non-union employees at our Medical Center to reform employee pension plans and adjust health, welfare and benefit packages to align more competitively with the marketplace.
Our commitment
We have created this site as part of our commitment to keeping the community informed on an ongoing basis about the imperative of change and our commitment to work constructively with all stakeholders as we build for the future.

- Thank you.
Together with the MNA, we have reached an agreement that meets the objectives of the Medical Center and is also in the best interests of our nurses, and most importantly, the patients and the families in the communities we are proud to serve.
